Visitor Survey

To help gauge the current usage of the Astley Ainslie site by staff, patients, visitors and the general public, the AACT conducted a survey of pedestrians and vehicle entering the site. More than 70 volunteers took part in counting at all entrances to AA on Wednesday 15th and Saturday 18th September 2021, between 6.30 a.m. and 8.00 p.m, ably organized by Mike Hall. We are very thankful for all their efforts which made this survey possible and highlights the use that the community makes of the site.

Over the course of the two days more than 3000 visits took place. While some people will have passed through the site multiple times, all will have benefited from the unique greenspace.

The rest of this page summarizes some of the key data collected. Further analysis and data are available from the AACT on request.

Summary

On Wednesday 15th September 1780 people visited the site using non-motorized transport - walking, cycling, pushing a buggy or wheeling. 131 dogs were recorded and 976 vehicles movements.

On Saturday 18th September 1245 people visited the site using non-motorized transport, in addition to 171 dogs and 231 vehicles.

The chart below breaks down the visitors by transportation method. Note that “Pram/Buggy” is in addition to the “Pedestrian - Adult” doing the pushing and counts the number of prams/buggies, not occupants! All

Non-Motorized Visitors over time

The charts below show the pattern of visitors over time. The use of the site for travelling to work and school on week day is very apparent compared with the use spread across the day at the weekend.
